Who We Are

Denver Share began more than a decade ago when two mothers, brought together by the loss of their babies, recognized a need for greater support for grieving families in Colorado. They created a place where parents could talk openly about their babies, connect with others who understood, and know they didn't have to navigate grief alone.

What began with two moms and a shared desire to support others has grown into a community of families, volunteers, and supporters committed to walking alongside those experiencing pregnancy and infant loss.

Today, Denver Share provides compassionate peer support, remembrance opportunities, education, and community for families throughout the Denver area and beyond. Many of our volunteers and all of our group facilitators have experienced loss themselves; they understand firsthand the importance of having a place where your story—and your baby—are remembered.

Melissa is a member of Denver Share’s Board of Directors and has volunteered as the Event Coordinator since 2025. After losing her son, Corey, in 2020 following a TFMR, she felt called to give back to the community that walked alongside her. She now focuses on organizing compassionate, purposeful gatherings that support bereaved families and honor their babies.

Kathleen Kennedy was completing her dissertation for her PhD in Counseling Psychology when her baby Jessica July was stillborn at 24 weeks. Her heartbreaking loss naturally drew her to specialize in perinatal bereavement in her private psychotherapy practice and to offer free support groups in her off hours. As she approached retirement, she joined the Denver Share board and brought her group with her. She is grateful to be part of this incredible organization where she continues to help other parents face the most difficult days of their lives.

By day, Allie manages earned revenue for the Clyfford Still Museum, but finds support in community through her work with Denver Share. Several years after the loss of her daughter, Frankie, Allie joined the Board to ensure no family walks through hardship alone. She blends her professional background in revenue growth with a deeply personal commitment to fundraising, helping Denver Share build a sustainable future in Frankie’s honor.
Cassidy Zavala

DIFFICULT DECISIONS
After several years of infertility, Cassidy Zavala and her husband were overjoyed to learn they were expecting their first child in 2015. Their daughter, Blaire DeLacy, was diagnosed with a devastating birth defect and died in June of that year. Navigating the isolation and devastation of this loss inspired Cassidy to pursue her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a specialization in perinatal mental health, bereavement, and fertility counseling.
Cassidy's involvement with Kathleen Kennedy's Difficult Decisions group- first as a participant and now as its facilitator- has been a meaningful full-circle moment. Facilitating the group is one of the ways she continues to honor Blaire's life. Cassidy believes the most meaningful work she does is walking alongside families as they navigate the burden of choice in their own deeply wanted pregnancies.
